Revolutionizing Gqom and Pushing Global Boundaries with a Bold Sound and Vision.

QUE DJ

Emerging in the late 2010s, Gqom, a blend of house and electronic music, catapulted from Durban's townships to the global stage, thanks to its distinctive "broken beats" sound. Central to this rise is Thobani Quinton Mgobhozi, known as QUE DJ. Starting in 2012, inspired by Griffit Vigos, Dj Gukwa, and Rude Boyz, QUE DJ revolutionized Gqom, transforming it from Fruity Loops creations into an international sensation. His pivotal collaboration with Goldmax (Zipho Mthembu) as Distruction Boyz and their hit "Omunye" gained them global acclaim, including a gold-status album featuring "Wololo," a track in Marvel's Black Panther

QUE DJ's global performances, from Amsterdam's Paradiso to London's Village Underground, elevated Gqom further. He introduced UMKHUNKULU, a heavier bass sub-genre, and through his alter ego iGhost, displayed lyrical versatility. His 2020 album "We Don’t Play The Same Gqom," SAMA-nominated, showcased his artistic evolution. The "We Don’t Play The Same Gqom Fest" in 2021 emphasiSed his dedication to the genre.

QUE DJ also launched Amagogogo Sounds, a record label nurturing new talent, and collaborated with fashion brands like adidas and H&M. His latest EP, "We Don’t Play The Same Gqom 2," features diverse talents, blending his signature sound with fresh sonic textures. With a vision pushing music and cultural boundaries, QUE DJ's impact on Gqom and the South African music scene remains profound and inspiring.

Shaping the Future of Gqom with Innovation, Global Beats, and Cultural Impact.
